Georgia Dickie

This work focusses attention on the textures of ordinary objects – postcard, paint smear, grating, marker, twine – exposing some in natural light; others, through colour filters.  Turning its pages, the camera’s effects gradually exaggerate, leading to the question, Do we look at the textures of the objects, or the textures of their photos?  Finally unresolvable, the ambiguity contemplates the reader’s presence relative to the work’s, which, itself, waffles between representing objects and representing the means of that representation.
