Jeanie Riddle

This work collects twenty-three photos, framed within an iPhone screen, against a pink background.  The first, on the cover, centering on a sign that indicates, or commands, PAINT, orients attention on the work’s play with materials: paint or printing, photo or scan, iPhone or booklet, indication or command, posed or found?  The background, framing the iPhone-frame, locates these ambivalences in the unresolvable complexities of pink.  The photos themselves pick up on formal elements from their neighbours, rhyming, repeating, anticipating, interrupting, in conversation.
